Welcome to the GI Babies Germany e.V. Website
Willkommen auf der Website des Vereins GI Babies Germany e.V.
Dear GI Babies,
based on an idea from our member Henry Reyna we are planning a slightly bigger event for the GI Babies Germany e.V. on 15 September in Heilbronn. What it is about and why we also target non-members is explained below.
The Previous History
For some time we have been trying to get our foot in the door with the press and other media to be noticed. So far we had articles in several small newspapers, a radio interview and a TV interview with the „Offener Kanal Worms“. Henry Reyna supports our efforts wholeheartedly and offered to use his contacts and help us to „get something started“.
Location and Date
Henry has the opportunity to get a hall in Heilbronn, a place that is pretty much the middle between Kaiserslautern-Mannheim-Frankfurt and Aalen-Ludwigsburg-Stuttgart. The hall in question has room for app 90 people. We set the date for 15 September 2012 since all the summer holidays will be over by that time.
What is the Plan and Why?
As mentioned before we want to make us known, the existance of the GI Babies, our problems when we search for our roots. We need publicity and this event can be very useful to get just that. In the long run we want to simplify the searches, easier access to records and an easier naturalization. We want to invite the media and local Politicians. We also hope to get the reporter from AFN, who is already working on a GI Baby story. If we invite Journalists from RheinMain TV, Franken-Sat or Rhein-Neckar Fernsehen will depend on how many GI Babies will join us at that event.
Will it work?
Such an event needs participants. We don‘t even have to start with 30 or 40 people. In a hall that holds 90 people that will look rather sad and we wouldn’t leave a good impression. The whole event will only make sense if we get 80-90 people that will actually show up. So we ask you to really think about if you want to support the cause for the GI Babies Germany by attending. The faster we get at least 80 people the more time we have to plan the details and invite the guests and media.
The Sequence of Events and Catering
We are still brainstorming about ideas and plans. We are open to any suggestions. If anybody has contacts to representatives of the press, please let us know. Again, it all depends on how many people will come and if they are also willing to provide food like salads, meatballs etc.
What will happen next?
Please think about it and let us know if you will attend this event. If you have any questions we can be reached via telephone, email, facebook and the forum on our homepage (for members only). Even if you can’t or don’t want to attend and have ideas for us, let us know.
Greetings,
the Boardmembers J

Another successful searchNEWSFLASH !!! NEWSFLASH !!! NEWSFLASH !!! Kerstin from Bremerhaven talked to her half-brother and half-sister in the States for the first time a couple of days ago. Unfortunately her dad passed away some time ago. But she is more than happy to finally have found her american family. The result is a very impressive, as well as important, documentation about the search for his roots and for himself. Here is the official trailer that will show you a first summary about Henry’s voyage. This makes us want more. The official accompanying text: "As long as we don't know our ancestor's history we will remain children" (The teaser in a english translation is coming soon) Last Updated (Sunday, 29 January 2012 08:57) |
